RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Henshaw Church of England Primary School is proud to be a Church School and strives to ensure that our Christian ethos and values shine through in all we do. The teaching of Religious Education is paramount in that:

“It develops children’s knowledge and understanding of the nature of religion and belief, it provokes challenging questions about meaning and purpose, truth and values, identity and belonging. Religious Education prepares children for citizenship in today’s diverse society. It enables them to develop sensitivity to and respect for others.”  ©Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education.

Henshaw Church of England Primary School follows the religious Education Syllabus for Church Schools written in consultation with Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education. The syllabus allows children to see that we are on a quest to discover more about ourselves, others, the world and God.

This is done through:

  • EXPERIENCE

  • ENQUIRY

  • ENCOUNTER

  • EXPLORATION

  • ENGAGEMENT

In order to meet the challenge and opportunities afforded by mixed age classes, we follow a rolling programme in order to fully cover the curriculum. Follow the link below to see the RE Curriculum overview for the Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
